Web Summit 2021

Web Summit is back in Lisbon, in what is expected to be one of the best editions ever. With the presence of big names in the technology area, among others, this year’s edition marks the return of the event’s face-to-face format.

Launched in 2009, Web Summit has quickly become the world’s most successful and recognized technology conference. After the first seven editions, held in Dublin, Ireland, the conference that every year attracts enthusiasts of technology and other areas of interest moved to Portugal. Since then, there have been four editions held in Lisbon, between Altice Arena and FIL. Only the pandemic stopped one of the editions being held in person, Web Summit 2020, and even so, it was carried out in an online format.

The last edition was an absolute debut in the realization of an event of this dimension in an exclusively online format, but the organization’s good work made the experience equally pleasant and enriching for all the participants.

This year, in the face-to-face return to Lisbon, Web Summit 2021 promises to be one of the best editions ever. In order to ensure the safety of all participants, the organization has already made it known that entry into the event is subject to the validation of a negative COVID-19 test or an official vaccine certificate while complying with all security measures in the fight against the pandemic, both at Altice and FIL, as well as at the accesses to these spaces.

Stephen Hawking, Al Gore, Elon Musk, Garry Kasparov, Tony Blair, Bono Vox, Edward Snowden, and Nico Rosberg were some previous editions speakers, just to name a few.

This year, Tim Berners-Lee, “Father” of the World Wide Web, Brad Smith, President at Microsoft, Nicolas Cary, Chairman & Co-Founder at Blockchain.com, Werner Vogels, CTO of Amazon, Biz Stone, Twitter Co-Founder, and Tom Taylor, Head of Alexa at Amazon, are some of the speakers, in a list that not only includes the most influential voices in the world of technology, but also football and UFC athletes and leaders of the Black Lives Matter movement.

Over 4 days, between November 1st and 4th, participants will be able to hear these and many other names and certainly extend the list of professional contacts in an event that also counts with a schedule full of activities for all tastes and a long list of partners and start-ups.
